AASLH’s 2020 National Visitation Survey

This fall, AASLH will share its findings with the entire field, summarizing aggregate visitation trends by institution size, location, type, and other criteria. In 2019, more than 1,250 institutions responded to the survey, allowing AASLH to produce its first ever National Visitation Report, which you can find here. Our analysis revealed that, from 2013 to 2018, visitation to history organizations increased just under 6 percent, with the strongest growth occurring at small institutions. By conducting this survey annually, AASLH strives to provide the history community with accurate and timely data on the state of the field.
