Volunteer with MAAM and receive a discounted registration rate!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the MAAM 2019 Annual Meeting!

MAAM has a number of volunteer opportunities for individuals to assist with the conference in exchange for a significantly reduced conference registration.

Students, emerging professionals, or professionals who work at small museums and cannot afford to attend the conference because of a limited budget, may apply to be volunteers. Volunteers are selected on a first-come, first-serve basis to fill specific volunteer positions. We try to ensure that as many of the graduate programs in the region as possible are represented among our conference volunteers.

Volunteering is a great way to network with professionals in your region!

Please take time to fill out our Google Form application (linked in the button below) so we can place you based on your interest and availability.  A MAAM representative will be in touch shortly after you fill this out to confirm your application – in the meantime, please feel free to contact info@midatlanticmuseums.org with any questions.

The deadline to apply to volunteer is October 2, 2019.

Applicants will be evaluated and selected by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums. Applicants will be notified via email if they have been selected by October 7, 2019.

Volunteer positions include

  • Assisting with check-in and registration at the conference
  • Assisting with conference events (e.g. Opening Reception, EMP event)
  • Distributing and collecting session evaluations
  • Photographing various events at the conference (prior experience preferred–Volunteer must use their own camera).
  • Serving as a tour group leader
  • Assisting with general session needs

Individuals interested in ONLY volunteering on Wednesday, October 16th as tour group leaders, workshop assistants, or opening reception positions can attend any event at 50% off the MAAM member price.

Individuals who can only attend the conference for a single day (Thursday or Friday) will pay a registration fee of $50.

Individuals who plan to volunteer and participate throughout the entirety of the conference will pay a registration fee of $100.
