International Collection of Eastern European Objects Available

The Tamburitzans, in Pittsburgh, Pa., have since 1937 focused on performance folk arts (music, song, dance) of East European cultures. In the process, we have gathered ~4,000 pieces of original folk costumes (many of which constitute full costumes), audio files in all formats (including 6,000 records and 650 audio tapes), 1,400 video/film recordings (both commercial and field), and 200 musical instruments, which we have kept as a private collection. Over the years, the collections broadened to include items from nearly all over the world.

As a result of restructuring, we wish to divest ourselves, via donation or sale, of the majority of these materials. We would strongly prefer to have them go to institutions capable of properly caring for them and allowing for academic research and the possibility of public display. If you have interest in any of these items or want more information, please contact: RJChoich@verizon.net or DMKolar@comcast.net.
