24 JunExploring Civics Through Historic Spaces: Professional Learning for Museum Educators.
Developed by the Intrepid Museum, the Exploring Civics Through Historic Spaces toolkit serves as a model for civics learning at museums, historic sites and cultural institutions using collections.
During this program, participants will explore the practical applications of the toolkit within a museum-school partnership model.
The toolkit is designed for use with varied historical collections, archives and ephemera as a conduit for K-5 civics learning, using civics themes in the Educating for American Democracy (EAD) Roadmap. A $200 stipend is available for full participation.
This program is open to museum practitioners seeking to deepen their understanding of utilizing historical collections to support civics education and develop a practical civics program through a museum-school partnership. Ideal for those working at historic sites or museums.
