John Lovell has been a long time member of MAAM representing every stage of his career from emerging professional to seasoned museum worker. He has served the organization as conference session presenter, workshop organizer, annual meeting chair, and board member and officer. Prior to assuming this position, he worked as administrator of state historic sites

John Lovell has been a long time member of MAAM representing every stage of his career from emerging professional to seasoned museum worker. He has served the organization as conference session presenter, workshop organizer, annual meeting chair, and board member and officer. Prior to assuming this position, he worked as administrator of state historic sites in New York’s Hudson Valley, and most recently as director of the Bureau of Historic Sites for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. He holds a graduate degree in American Folk Culture from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, and attended the Attingham Summer School on the English Country House. John lives in Albany, New York, with his wife Audrey Nieson.
