How can museum practitioners leverage the most traditional form of gallery
interpretation—labels and text—to connect meaningfully with twenty-first century
audiences? At this virtual convening hosted by SAAM, pairs of curators and
interpretation specialists from Denver Art Museum, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art,
Corning Museum of Glass, Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and Smithsonian
American Art Museum will present case studies that consider the production of museum
labels through the lenses of collaboration, inclusive language, and centering the visitor
experience.
