18 JanAASLH’s 250 Con
250 Con is designed to be a galvanizing and unifying moment for the history field as we enter the final year of preparation for the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. This once-in-a-generation milestone presents an unprecedented opportunity to elevate our field’s relevance, impact, and reach. We would greatly appreciate your help promoting 250 Con with museums and other organizations in the Mid-Atlantic region.
This virtual event will be the final and only national gathering for history professionals and organizations before 2026, and it offers an invaluable chance for institutions of all types and sizes to:
- Learn about major national and state planning efforts for the 250th.
- Identify actionable ways to connect to this historic commemoration.
- Collaborate with peers across the country to generate momentum for meaningful participation.
The event will kick off with an inspiring keynote conversation featuring the leaders of the Library of Congress, National Archives, and Smithsonian Institution. It will also include:
- Lightning rounds showcasing major 250th initiatives.
- Breakout sessions for networking and skill-building.
- A virtual meet-and-greet with state 250th commissions.
Because 250 Con is virtual, anyone can participate—making it accessible to staff and volunteers at organizations of all types and sizes anywhere in the country.
