Museums Moving Forward: Digging into the Data on Workplace Culture

Museums Moving Forward (MMF) invites museum professionals from across the field to join an upcoming virtual program exploring the latest findings from their 2025 report, Workplace Equity and Organizational Culture in US Art Museums.

During this session on Wednesday, August 5 at 12 pm ET, MMF will share key field-wide data insights, with a special focus on trends and perspectives from the Mid-Atlantic region. While the report centers on art museums, staff from all types of museums are encouraged to participate and engage in the conversation.

Rather than a traditional presentation, this program will use the data as a starting point for discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on how the findings align with their own experiences in the field, helping MMF ground the research in real-world, on-the-ground perspectives from museum professionals.

A key goal of the session is to foster dialogue that deepens understanding of workplace culture across museums and contributes to ongoing efforts to improve equity and organizational health within the field. MMF will also gather feedback during the session to help inform future surveys and reports, ensuring that their research continues to reflect the needs and realities of museum workers.

For those interested in reviewing the core findings in advance, MMF encourages participants to consult the executive summary of the 2025 report.

The session will be led by Liz Levine, Head of Programs at Museums Moving Forward, who brings extensive experience in facilitating field-wide dialogue and translating research into actionable insights for museum practice.

We hope you will join us for this important conversation about the present and future of museum workplace culture.

This virtual meeting is free, but registration is required.
